Posey Spruce by Northwest Specialty Woods has been manufactured the same way for over a hundred years and has continued to supply the piano manufacturing and piano rebuilding industry with unsurpassed quality. Northwest Specialty Woods is owned and operated by Chris & Charlie Munger and Frank A. Johnson the General Manager. Together they make up a team that has almost 100 years of combined experience in piano soundboard manufacturing. Northwest Specialty Woods manufacturing expertise goes back to the day of the Posey Manufacturing Company which manufactured Sitka Spruce soundboards from the late 19th century and throughout the 20th century as well. Although the Posey Manufacturing Company has closed its doors, Posey employees working at N.W. Specialty Woods have continued the tradition of quality and craftsmanship that made Posey the leader in high-grade Sitka Spruce Soundboards.
Without a question the team at Northwest Specialty Woods has made more piano soundboards then any other soundboard manufacturer in the business. Our Posey Spruce resides on more concert stages then any other spruce soundboard in the world. When commissioning the building of two pianos, Prince Charles ordered Posey Spruce because of its reliability and historical originality.
We continue today with the same standards that was relied upon back in the Golden Age of Piano Manufacturing and our products are known throughout the world as being the very best. Over the years Posey Spruce was manufactured for over 160 piano manufacturers throughout the world and every major piano manufacturer has relied on Posey Spruce to deliver top quality performance and durability. Our products stand alone in the industry and on their own merit of achievements. Over the past century the use of Posey Spruce was so heavily relied upon that it was used to make the wing spars of the Spirit of St. Louis Airplane that is in the National Aerospace Museum in DC.
